Yesterday I decided to try bonding Clive and Squilliam as he's now cleared from his quarantine period. At first things were a bit shaky, Clive wanted to rumble strut everywhere and Squilliam decided this wasn't on, teeth chattering then ensued! I decided to scrub the hutch down, remove all smells and give them a bonding bath. Things have been better ever since, I've been checking on them periodically throughout the night and I'm pleased to say I've only heard teeth chattering briefly and not often. For the most part they are plonked on a big pile of hay together munching away :-D

Here are some pics of their bath and the new hutch setup.

The hutch has two of everything, apart from hay racks I've just put a huge pile on the floor at Squilliam's end. They seem to be using their own sides however I have seen them together on the hay pile. The hutch is 5ft so they have plenty of room to either play or get away from each other.

Clive's side -The bed was in the middle as a neutral but Clive has dragged it up near his pigloo. rolleyes

Squilliam-Fancyson's side - He has his favourite wooden bridge/hut. You can see him peeking out, Clive was actually having a nibble on it in this photo but he's black so you can't see him in the bad lighting.

Fingers crossed things stay this way!

Hope it continues to go well! Handsome piggies x)

Things are still going fairly well. I think Clive has kind of given in and is letting Squilliam become top pig, there is the odd rumble and scuffle but other than that they seem happier for the company!

Unfortunately I had to separate Clive and Squilliam this morning. They have been lunging all night however there were no bites or fights until I went to feed them this morning. Clive had Squilliam pinned down on his back and was not letting go! Luckily he is quite close to me so as soon as I shouted him he turned around and came running towards me, at this point I obviously got Squilliam out of there and he's now back in his old cage.

I'm gutted and now don't know what to do. I'm making their c&c cages in February and don't have the funds to go for more than three cages. @)

Oh nnoooooooo!!mi am so sorry that didn't work out! You've done the right thing as so as there is lunging its time to worry.

So you don't have room to keep everyone is that what you mean? :o

I'm going to see what I can do in regards to cages, I just didn't want it 4 tiered as that means more grids, more Perspex ect not to mention the difficulties I'm going to have finding them all friends. I have 4 lone boars on my hands now, they're my responsibility though so I'll do my best.

4 lone boars! Oh goodness... Have all possible combinations been tried? What a nightmare... I was worried enough about ending up with 2 if mine didn't get on, never mind 4!

What a shame they've not got on...! ;/

I tried Wigner and Clive but Wigner is extremely agressive so he wouldn't get on with Squilliam either and Kevin has sight problems so I'm not going to risk him. I don't think any of my boys are compatible so it looks like I'll have to seek new friends for them, unfortunately these things happen. I've gone from a boar pair and two singles to four lone boars in a couple of months.
