As Sakurai and Ryou are still quite timid piggies I decided today after I finished cleaning out their cages I was going to try and gain their trust more of me.

So after I finished cleaning them, I had them in the hallway. Sakurai was hiding in the log tube and Ryou was just behind her. I sat on the top step connected to the hallway and put my head on my arms and just lay there.

After about five minutes of staring from Ryou, he slowly walked over, walked past me and then around to Sakurai again. She watched.
He then came around again but this time moved behind me. I could feel him touching my hair and head and then he went around the circle again to Sakurai's area.
Once more he then came back over to me and this time he came straight up to my face and pressed our noses together. I giggled as it was funny and he continued to explore me. I was very happy with how brave he was being. Sakurai was too scared still but she seemed curious watching him and realising I wasn't going to do anything to him.

I just wanted to share this story as it made me smile that Ryou was so brave. :)

Wonderful story, I bet that made your day. I am doing something along those lines with Herbert, hopefully we will make the same progress!

I do that sort of thing in the pig-room quite often.
My pigs are quite used to me sitting or lying on the floor, and just ignore me - unless I've got cucumber!
I just like to sit there and watch them being piggies. I might try taking photos of them too.

It certainly made me happy! He's gotten a lot braver than he used to be. He just doesn't like being picked up as he chatters at me as soon as he knows its coming. I think he'll always be that way though.

Good luck with Herbert. I'll be focusing on showing Sakurai through Ryou that I'm not scary to touch. =)

How nice! I don't get many chances to do it with mine as my dad has OCD and utterly loathes me taking them out which is why training them is harder. They used to be in the living room (my old piggies) so they were constantly around me but my current four are in their own pig room so I have them in the hall and do it.
I'm going to try and do it every time I clean them out now. =)
