Hello everyone!

Recently one of my guinea pigs have unfortunately passed away which leaves Max all by himself. When it happened he didn’t show any signs of being upset and was still himself. He’s still eating, drinking, running around everywhere and popcorning. However, i would really like to get him a mate but i’m not sure what his reaction will be like. I got Max and Pickle from petsathome and they were in a cage with around 4 (or maybe more) other guinea pigs and they all seemed to get along. However, Max will be 3 in a couple months and it’s been a while since he’s been with any other guinea pig other than Pickle. I don’t want to get another guinea pig and have to bring him back because they aren’t getting along as that would be devastating! I have no guinea pig rescue centres in my area which is a shame as i heard they allow you to bring in your guinea pig to meet the guinea pig you decide to rehome to see if they get along. I'm not sure of this but i think petsathome do the same thing but only the rehoming/adoption centres? Once again i don’t have any near me, the petsathome i live near only sell animals. Any tips? Would i have to buy a separate cage? What do i do if they don’t get along? I was planning to get him a pal today but Max is a very cheeky guinea pig!
