hi guys really sorry to post again
But I was cleaning out the girls cage I took roxy out of her box so she can smell the hay I've got them and the daisy the tiny one was chasing her and I do belive daisy was doing a little dance
So my question is this why she is so scared
What do it do keep her there or try and bond them
Many thanks

When piggies move to a new territory ie when you bought them home last week, they go into a period of establishing their relationship. This takes about two weeks. They will do this even if they have always been together. What you are seeing sounds to be normal dominance particularly as Roxy has been hiding herself away. The little dance you report sounds like she is rumblestrutting. You don’t need to do anything other than watch them and ensure all is well - it is up to the piggies to sort out their relationship and hierarchy.
However, should it turn out that Roxy is not accepted by Daisy and Winter then Roxy will need to live in a separate cage which is next to Daisy and Winter.

Has Roxy come out of the box at all by herself?

Can you remind me,
How big is your cage?
Do you have plenty of hides (with two exits in each one) in the cage?

She is probably just scared but I would have expected her to have come out by now…

Will when the c&c arrive?
What size c&c do you have planned? Three piggies need a 2x5 grid cage?
The cage you have at present is barely big enough for two piggies so that may not be helping.

You need three hides in the cage at all times.
I would be expecting her to be venturing out by now.

I have managed to get a bigger cage I removed the cardboard box and but another hidy in there
Its over 44 grid so hopefully it be bigger enough
The use the tube as hide but ill get more in a bigger game its only temporarily

Do you mean its 4 grids wide by 4 grids long?
Make sure to have as many hides as there are piggies, and also ensure three hay piles, three bottles etc.

Has she started to move about more?

She is coming out but winter sprayed her I've ordered another cc cage with 36grids I think its coming tomorrow ill get some more hides etc

I have a 7x2 c&c cage for 4 girls and thought that would be great ...

Discovered how cold they are even in a dry garage. 10 degrees was mentioned as a minimum. A few mornings this week around 10 and it's not that cold yet ! Mine looked miserable. I thought their fur coats would protect but that's wrong apparently.

So I have had to insulate the floor and put cardboard around at night.

Bit worried in a serious cold spell as I will have to bring them indoors. That's not ideal !

C&c are lovely cages but not v warm ..

Interested in other solutions? Blankets etc.

I have 4 snuggles also but they are too thick to go in them . They just sniff them and trample over them . 🤔

It would be far better for you to start a separate thread asking for advice for your own question @Mon59
This thread is not about keeping guinea pigs warm in a garage.

I'm sorry . I saw several posts on C&C cages in this thread . I thought related as a new thread

Not sure why this came to the moderators attention but I'll be more careful in future.

I wouldn't worry, our mods are quite active - Swissgreys probably just read this thread and thought to give you a nudge towards a better way of getting the info you need 🙂

@miranda2300 have you tried draping a blanket over the top of the cage to help it feel less open? In the past I've covered the top and about half the sides of the cage for new piggies and this has seemed to help. Fingers crossed it's not a compatibility issue!

It only came to my attention because like all moderators I tend to browse a selection of threads several times a day.
Sometimes we even have something useful to contribute

well today winter was spraying at roxy and when roxy was hiding winter was bullying roxy nudging her in the corner I have made a decision to separate them I've got a twin cage coming and going to find roxy a new friend where she can live happy and comfortable since I have separate themroxy has been eating her hay etc because she was petrified of winter I know that guinea pig do have disagreements but what I saw wasn't not looking good and I have to also but roxy wellbeing first

I'm sorry to hear this.

I'm still confused by your cage sizing though! A cage using 36 grids is huge - an 8x8 uses 32 grids.
The two girls who live together need a cage which is 2 grids by 4 grids.
Roxy will also need a cage which is 2 grids by 4 grids for when she has a new friend.
So each cage needing 14 grids and given two sides need to be joined while Roxy is alone (her cage must be side by side with the other two for interaction between the bars) you actually only need 20 grids to make both cages.

If you’ve got 36 grids then you don’t need a ‘twin cage’ because you have enough grids to make the two cages.

I assume by twin cage you mean a two storey cage? If so, then ensure it isn’t another 120cm cage because that is only just minimum for two piggies so might be too small when Roxy has her new friend. Upper levels of cages don’t count towards the cage size in any event.

To find Roxy a new friend, the best way is to go to a rescue centre and have them help find a compatible friend for her.

Cage Size Guide

I wouldn't question you separating them but I had similar .

My lovely teddy baby was terribly picked on for the first few weeks. Terrible crying and all her food stolen. I was considering trying to get rid of the eldest permanently.

Since they went in their larger cage she has put on weight and defends herself (with her bum ) now.

So perhaps not a permanent disaster.

All my best wishes.

Hi every one i am putting the grids together and the work out to be 2 x6 I've checked it its recommended for three guinea but I am doing it for the two and I am setting that size for up for roxy toon since I removed roxy she been alot happy eating and put grams on I rushed her to the vets yesterday because I was so worried about her

That’s good
A 2x6 is actually big enough for four piggies but as it’s only two they will have a lovely space.

I’m glad you have found a solution to make her happy. It does sound like a failed bond if she has perked up now and is away from the others

She still hides at times but I do see her out and about eating bits too but I will keep eye on her weight etc and observe but thank you for your help really appreciate it now not sure to wait a while see if can try and bond her back in a neutral setting or get her a new friend the set ups will be near each other so they can communicate

If they are not compatible to the point of bullying then they will never be able to go back together. If they don’t like each other now then they will not change their minds at all. Pee spraying is a very strong way of telling another piggy to stay away. If Roxy had hidden in her box for days and wouldn’t come out then I would be considering bullying (of course we can only go on what you tell us). Roxy will have to remain in her cage and having a new friend would be ideal.

Yeah I am going to get her one hopefully she can make a new friend daisy and winter love there new space zooming jumping in the air i think they love it
