Bonding

I'm picking up my new piggy tomorrow to bond with Lincoln. My plan of action is to put Kenickie in a spare cage near Lincoln for a day or two to settle in. Than introduce them on the couch or something, then bath them together and put them in Lincolns cage together (after its been cleaned).
Is that all ok? is there anything ive missed?

I didnt hang around - i put them together straight away - personally i think this is the best thing. They were going into a new bigger cage anyway so everything was new so didnt need to worry bout that.

I put them on the living room floor together , giving them plenty of space and just let them have a nosey, obviously standing by for fights. At first I was really nervy and they were doing stuff which i was panicking bout them fighting, but I'm glad i left them and didnt get too over protected as they got on so well! it took them about 2 hours to be at ease with one another! I didnt separate them after that too, i dont think this should be done as they are getting used to eachother and i think taking them away is just messing up all the hard work they have already done, and then the next day, they will just have to do it all from square one again!

From my personal experiences with piggies over these many years ive had them, i would say just go for it! they best starting off in their new environment with their new friend, and them being apart and maybe being able to sense/smell eachother could be a bad thing.

I would put Kenickie in wiht Lincoln tomorrow, the sooner the better! But of course its up to you!

fingers, toes and paws are all crossed this end! I worried but it all worked out in the end. Try not to panic tooo much and take them apart as soon as they start chattering or what not to eachother, unless it gets really serious, then take them apart.

I am sure they will be fine, make sure its a neutral area too ( as you will probably know!)

I agree with Emily I always put them straight together and whilst Lincoln's out of the cage change all the bedding so that when they go in together it's fresh from scents. Save the bathing for if there's trouble later. Expect some degree of chattering and mounting and try to be relaxed I'm sure animals pick up on our tension.
