as you know danny and dodger live in a hutch in my garden.
they will HAVE to come indors for bonfire night as it's like beirut round here.

the hutch is way too big to come indoors and i can't afford to buy an indoor cage.

what do i do? give me the benefit of your wisdom please!

as it is just tempory how about a large pet carrier? or two smaller ones if they want a bit of space?

An old big parcel/cardboard box with an old towel in the bottom will serve for a night. When they are frightened, they want somewhere to cuddle up together, so a ball of hay to hide in is just right.

Make sure that they have some cover overhead to protect them from light flashes and have preferably tv or radio on to help drowning out some of the noise. It might help if you got them used to radio beforehand; so that's not yet another bad noise.

look on free cycle for a FREE indoor cage

of you can have mine if you are able to collect from Maidenhead in Berkshire

Freecycle is a good bet

you can always pass it on after

i have been checking on freecycle!

what a kind offer but i live in the north and won't be able to come down south before then i don't think but it's very kind of you thank you.

if i get a really big box, i can put their igloo or tunnels in from the hutch/run so they can hide. will put hay in etc

Good idea! You can punch some holes in the top, but close the flaps for added protection agains the light flashes.

If you can; get them used to the box and the indoors beforehand as well and get some scent of theirs on the towel. Guinea pigs react to smells far more than us - if that box has their scent on, then it says "our territory" and makes them feel so much safer! If you feed tham litle treats, they will associate the box with good things.

they have got a fleecey blanket in their bedroom in the hutch with hay and everything. i could put that blanket in the box then.

If you have a run in the garden, you could put some waterproof plastic sheeting down on your floor, cover with fleece and make an indoor run for them with hidey holes, food etc. I have done with when I have been overloaded with rescues and run out of hutches. xx

In my outdoor shed, I will be leaving the light on all night just so that the flashes have less impact, so hopefully that will help. x

Oh Nutmeg thats a cracking idea. Bring the run in the house.

hmmmm just need to sweet talk the boss

i have always loads of cardboard i can cover with a tarp and fleece
or maybe some old carpet that i dont mind getting ruined

minds is working over time now

the run is attached to the hutch so can't bring it inside.

i will work something out with a large box i think.
