With the weather having been so lovely ever since I got Tilly and Hettie they have been going outside in the run from around 8am until 8pm everyday.

As soon as they get outside they seem to come to life! running around, popcorning, chattering, they love it!

However, when they are inside they never seem to do much at all! I'm dreading the winter coming when they wont be able to go outside, they will be so bored.

I have tried numerous different toys, wooden chews etc but nothing seems to stimulate them.

As I'm still new at all this, has anyone any ideas?

Perhaps change their enxlosure around a bit? I'm not sure but to me it sounds like your piggies are pooped from spending all day outside having fun! :P

Hmmmm not really sure how I could change it round really!

Never thought they could just be worn out from all the fresh air! do Guinea Pigs naturally sleep at night? I'm only used to rabbits who come alive at dawn and dusk!

If Guinea Pigs have had an energetic and exciting day they do tend to crash afterwards, from my experience anyways. It just happens to be a coincidence that this is at night I think...
Sometimes if you just move around some of the toys in there indoor enclosure and maybe try some different fruits and veg it tends to give them a new lease of life :)

My piggies seem to get worn out after being out in the run even for an hour or so, I think it maybe because they are prey animals and their senses are hightened from being on guard. Sounds as if yours are chilling after a long day.
Also guinea pigs usually take power naps, they wouldn't be able to do this really in their run, hence the longer sleeps when back inside.

They do have a large carry case in the run and I have seen them both sleeping in there but maybe they don't have a very long sleep until they get back inside!

My 2 missed their usual dinner time last night because they had been running around eating grass all day. It was about an hour and a half later that they realised they were meant to wake up and start begging for something!

Ours are pretty much able to come and go as they please and are itching to get out into the garden in the morning - they are then free-range all day but by mid-afternoon they are usually found waiting by the back-door, when we open it they come trotting in and hop into their cages in the living room, for the rest of the day they are happy to just lay around and munch a bit of hay in-between naps.

By the sounds of it yours are very similar, they are probably just tired and full and need a bit of a rest!
