My guinea pigs have mostly been lying down and they seem very bored. Please may you suggest some games that we can play with them

Same here @Posyrose! There was some popcorning during the cool of the morning (from the piggies, not me 😂) but everybody is just lazing about now (mostly me!)

If they have each other and lots of enrichment in the cage then they won’t be bored.
A big pile of hay on the cage floor, some cardboard boxes with holes for doors cut in them and of course having each other is brilliant enrichment for them

Mine have been less active in the current heat too.
They have a bag full of hay, a carrot cottage and some tunnels to amuse them, as well as playing together.

How old are your pigs? How many do you have? And what size cage are they in, can you share a photo.

Guinea pigs do lie about a lot, but mine love to walk back and forth and burrow in their hay or maybe have a quick rumble strut back and forth. It’s smaller everyday things that make a difference to pigs. A friend being the biggest one, they need someone to talk to!

Hi, our guinea pigs are three years old. I have got two, a male and a female, they are brother and sister both sterilised. The size of the cage is 2 meters by 1 meter. They do get to run outside on the veranda every two days or so.

You wouldn’t happen to have a picture of their cage you could share? Then people could advise what they would add or take away etc.

But definitely be aware that piggies do tend to lie about quite a lot, and they should be doing fine since they have each other!

Guinea pigs sleep every hour or so throughout the day, that's normal. And spend a lot of their awake time just lounging. Ours seem to move constantly from one comfy spot to the next - every time you look in the cage they are stretched out chilling in a different place! They are couch potatoes.

In terms of giving them entertainment, sprinkling food that they can snuffle about in is good. Ours like the dried herb mixes you get from Pets at Home. They are never happier than when they're snuffling about the floor for the tastiest bits!

Older piggies tend to zoom about less but they spend a lot of time foraging.

Consequently, I would add a lot more hay (The more hay the better) in another area of the cage.

I would also remove the bowl with the dry food in and instead scatter their one tablespoon of pellets (per pig) amongst the hay so they have to forage for them (makes pellet time more like entertainment and makes them use their brain rather than sitting mindlessly at a bowl).

Aside from entertainment, I would definitely add another water source. You should always have multiple areas for water.

:agr:
I can only really agree with what's been said above. They have a great amount of space and each other, they seem like two very spoilt piggies to me!

Yes they are, the plainer the cardboard the better. I always use packaging as makeshift hides for my piggies!

Like the cardboard packaging that comes with delivery’s. I was recently told on another thread a lot of shops will give you some cardboard if you ask apparently.
