Bless him, hes been with us a week or so, and already hes in for castration. The vet said on monday that he is fighting fit and healthy, and his 'merchandise' is all present and correct. Hes getting dropped off there at 8.30 tomorrow morning. I'm nervous for the poor pig, but at least once its all done and hes had his cooling off month :)) he can have his wives around him properly and he can enjoy the 7ft hutch (soon to be extended)with them :) i cant wait, i hope they get on ok after all this!

aww bless him we picked up Peter on the Saturday and he was booked in the following Friday for castration :)) bless him! Its very nerve wracking, I couldn't focus all day or eat, I felt sick with worry but he's perfectly fine. Good luck Boris!

I'm sure he will be fine, he will be the 3rd boar we have had castrated over the years, touch wood the other 2 were perfectly fine :) hes had 2 years of sowing his seed in the hands of his old owner who was a breeder, so now its retirement time....even if he doesnt agree :))

Aww little Boris good luck with your op. Your mum isn't being mean as you'll get to have your ladies around you 24/7 after. Lucky boy. My boys are jealous.

Good luck boris! If only we could explain to them! Lol

my vets nearly had a heart attack when I said I'm sure he'll forgive me when he finally gets to live with his girlfriends, they thought I was going to go home and put them all together straight away :))

just waiting on news on how he is, can ring at 2 and find out. i hope hes done ok, i feel all nervous for him now the day is here. he was shivering all the way to the vets, like he knew something was happening, he was fine when he went in for the check up on monday. this last hour has felt like a week waiting for the time to ring to check. he will be staying indoors until he has healed up, and I'm keeping him on towel instead of woodshavings and hay as i figure it will be easier to keep him clean and see if he is having any issues down there. I'm sur ehe will thank me in a month or so when hes free to, erm....enjoy :red his girls!

Good luck BORIS XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

awwwwwwww whee hope all has gone well with his op and that his recovery is quick..........and then just a little wait boy and then you can live with your ladies x)x)x)

just rang, hes not coming out of the anaesthetic (sp?) overly well, hes taking his time. they will have more of an update at 4pm :... i hope the little guy is ok!

Hope he is okay. Victor is going in at the end of the month. x

I hope little Boris is okay!

Sending him good luck vibes!

I hope Boris is ok! Fingers crossed for him. My boys send him healing and sympathetic wheeks.

Hope you feel better soon Boris. It will be worth it. ;)
Hector knows how you feel he went through it 2 weeks ago, couldn't get comfy at all when he got home bless him.

Fingers crossed for Boris!

You may find that you have to hand feed him if he is not eating properly and he may be poorly at first if he's had a bad time coming round. Weigh him daily.

Even the same piggy can react differently and recover at a different rate from the same op.

Sure he'll be fine, some do take a little longer to come around than others. The main thing is that the op went well, and of course that he's eating too. It may take a little longer, especially if he's groggy, so if you're too far away from the vets, perhaps grab some critical care just in case you need it. If you don't use it, you'd have it if you ever need some at another time.

thank you for that. good news, hes come around just fine now. not sure about the eating but they said hes fine for collecting. my husband has just left to pick him up. I'm setting up his indoor cage so its ready for him to come into and settle down after his long day. I'm so relieved, i hope hes not feeling too sore.

Best of luck for bringing him home. I hope that he is perkier now!

Brilliant news! Hope he is safely tucked up at home now!

well, hes home, hes not a happy boy :( he had a pain killing injection while he was there, but i think he is really hurting. he went into his cage, and just sat, where i put him, didnt even try to move into his bed. i can put my hand in a gently stroke him and he was like a stuffed toy. he hadnt eaten or drunk anything, and i left him 2 hours to see if he was interested, he has hay, nuggets, grass, kale, carrot, broccoli, apple and pepper. all to try and encourage him to eat. eventually i decided to put him with the girls and see if that brought him round at all. dont worry, i barely blinked just incase :))

when he went in with them, he sat and sulked, then both girls came over, one on each ear, and they cleaned him, all over his face, licking his face and ears, nancy got really stuck in on his left ear and he seemed to love it. then they worked their way down his back, penny couldnt quite reach on top so she put her little front feet up on his shoulder and carried on. he sat there like lord muck, closing his eyes, and when they stopped, he started munching the grass :) they have the magic touch! i left them together, watching every second, for nearly half an hour,he didnt make a peep and no chasing at all which i was glad about. he is now back in his indoor cage and is munching apple and kale and some grass i picked for him.

the little guy had me worried for a bit, but fingers crossed he will be back to his usual self soon :)
