yesterday, boris had his post op check for his castration wound. nurse took a quick look and said all looks well, which i thought too apart from maybe a little bit of swelling. then, through the night, boris has decided he has had enough of the stitches in 1 side, and chewed them out :{ it hasnt opened up or anything, there seemed to be a very tiny maybe 1-2mm spot of scab which wasnt there before so i guess it pulled a bit. the other side seems to be still stitched up. do i need to worry? the wound seems to be holding together, and is dry and clean looking. the thing is we cant get to a vet anytime soon, but i dont know at what point its safe to be un-stitched if thats the correct phrase! he was castrated a week ago this morning. the stitches were suposed to be dissolving ones but i didnt notice any difference in them over the past week.

Nibbler did that after his bladder stone op. He pulled some of the stitches out some of the way so I took him to the vets just to be on the safe side but they said it was fine and they tidied up the loose stitches a bit. Then a couple of days later he ripped it completely out. The wound healed fine though. Best thing to do is keep a close eye on it and if there is a reason for concern, take him to the vets.
