I have a very bossy sow who is being a pain in the but she is fine with people but does have the odd nip but keeps atticking other pigs .

at the moment she is on her own but i really want to get her a friend all the girls i have are in groups and have tryed her with everyone and she hates them all.

she is getting lots of hugs and has her own very big cage just wish i could get her a friend she likes

Have you tried her with a neutered male? Perhaps contact Reading Guinea Pig Rescue and see if she can go along for some speed dating.

My eldest piggy Oyster is like that. When we adopted her, she had been kept in a small hutch outside on her own for at least a year, with a big barking dog. She hated us at first but loves us now and never nips me - but does with the other piggies.
She has always been a bit of a poorly pig and has a short temper (think that's from how she feels though) - especially with the other pigs and has no time for them.

Sometimes they just might like to be on there own but as long as she can see and hear the other piggies, she might be fine. Is it just in their living quarters she nips them or on floor time as well when there is more space? Was she the first piggy? Did you have her from a baby?

Just warning you that sows who have problems with other girls often won't accept a neutered male, either, so you need to find a place where you can take her boar dating. It is usually obvious within the first 15-30 minutes whether she accepts a boy or not.

I would strongly advise against having a boar neutered on spec unless he can live with your other girls if things go wrong. Some older piggies prefer having their own territory next to other piggies and are perfectly happy that way!

Best of luck!

Sometimes the sows just don't get along with other piggies. :{

My sow, Nibbles did not like other piggies very much. She lived with one other sow, Josephine, until she passed away. She behaved violently to every other pig for a while. Nibbles wouldn't accept any other piggies into her cage. Eventually, she accepted Dobby, a newly weaned pup. But, that was after she had a stroke, and really couldn't behave violently.

I'd just go to rescue and try whoevers available sows are pretty quick at letting you know if they like the other pig.

Milo was tried with 4 sows, before we found one. He had far to much Testerone in his tiny body and annoyed everyone so much they went for him! :x

Your girl sounds exactly like a sow i had; Maddie. She attacked all other pigs, including babies & did leave wounds but she loved her man Albie. When he passed, she changed & allowed younger sows to bully her (i'd bonded her to these 2 girls so she wasn't alone). She then lived next to an intact boar (also a bully) & through the bars love seemed to blossom & so i had him neutered but when they were together she wasn't happy tho' she didn't attack him she did become withdrawn again. I removed her, he got 2 new girls & she lived on her own, in the same room as other pigs & she thrived.

2.5 years ago i adopted a sow who "will not live with other pigs" & in part this was true, she did fly at other sows ( i think she was on the defensive) but she did take to a neutered boar & lived with him for quite a few months before being introduced to my herd of 5 girls . It took quite a few introductions in the run (the biggest space possible) before she realised they were no threat to her & she & her boar have lived together with the girls for almost a year.

Good Luck with your girl, i hope she can find a pig she can share her life with :)
