For the past few days neither pigs have eaten or seen interested in their veggies.. I weighed them both and their weights have both stayed pretty constant, and they both seem pretty lively. They’ll both eat hay, pellets, herbs, grass, etc, just not veggies!

I wonder if their just bored of the usual veggies, but even their favourites haven’t been eaten recently 🙁 It sounds strange but my pigs go through phases of going off their pellets, but never before their veggies.

Thats pretty strange, try giving some coriander, and red bell pepper or green. Normally i would say its a first sign of being sick, but if they are eating plenty of hay and some pellets, i doubt it

HI! Normally suddenly not eating one major food group is a sign of a developing health problem. Please switch from weighing once weekly to weighing daily at the same time; be aware that the daily weight swing is about 30-40g. Any weight loss above that should be vet checked.

If both piggies are doing the same, then there is either an infectious or environmental angle. Also keep an eye on the poos/the tummy (bloat) in case something they have eaten was not right and is giving them a bit of an upset or has put them off.

Try different fresh herbs or a little fresh grass to see whether they are interested in that. Green stuff usually goes down best.

Thanks so much for the advice, upon further inspection I think it’s one piggie in particular who seems to want to eat the veg, but can’t! I’m taking her in to see a vet as soon as possible.

I gave them literal bucketloads of grass, it went down very well, the same with herbs.

Be careful with grass if they are not used to it, can cause bloat. Good luck at the vets 👍

Thank you, they’re used to grass as they go out a lot in the summertime and I feed them it daily!
Sorry to bother you more but do you know the policy for under 18s bringing their pets in without a parent or guardian? (UK). I could get her seen sooner if I went alone, but I’m not sure if that’s legally allowed?

I'm not sure, you might not be allowed to sign any forms. But i never have. Only for putting to sleep( which wont be happening)

Ah ok, I’ll stick to going with my mum just to be on the safe side, but that would mean waiting until Friday afternoon :soz:

My dad took the pig I thought was ill today, the vet found nothing wrong! He suggested it might be her oldish age (4years) and to keep an eye on them both
