Last night I think I've figured out why my older girls haven't been eaten a lot of their dry mix and hay, and why their water bottle hasn't been getting as low as it normally does...

Their bottle is bust!

It's one of the 'bunny' bottles by Classics (middle one in the pic). It was being temperamental, only giving water when it water to! So they have the smaller kind at the moment but they got through that over night, I can't imagine how thirsty they must have been, Megan was head-first in a water bowl I gave them temporally!

So today, my mum's going to take me to Wilkos and Pets@Home (Penny has her check up later) to get me a new bottle for them but I've only ever used Sippy and Classics, so I don't know what other ones are ideal... Glass bottles are a no-no as mine live outside and I don't want that smashing come winter time.

Can anyone recommend a decent make of bottle that's large enough for 4 adult sows, and that I can get in either place mentioned?

I use Classic bunny bottles, the 320ml size. 2 bottles per hutch. I also have 2 of these: http://www.petscorner.co.uk/small-animal/feeders/ferplast-drinky (300ml one) which are quite good.

My mum got me a 600ml Classic one today from a garden centre as she was too tired to go right into town after Penny's check-up at the vets, but I've left the spare on one just in-case, but both are working so that's good!

I'll just have to make sure I check them and buy them new ones more often, they'd had that one about a year I think.

I've had Dinky's for my rats before, they're quite good but you have to be careful the nozzle doesn't come away from the rubber, that's happened to me a few times with new ones even, not safe if you ask me.

I use the classic bunny bottles and they are ok but don't last very long!

I generally have a couple spare just in case one breaks or develops a split or leak.

I find it better to have two smaller bottles rather than one big one :)

I have stuck with Classic as i find in some other bottles the metal tube can be quite big are too big for the piggy to drink from (McMac seems to drink by sticking the tube down his mouth :S) ive had a couple that are a bit iffy like not giving water or getting stuck but you just have to make sure you pick a good one in the shop :)

Oh and once one bottle wouldn't work because of the air pressure so I just needed to give it a squeeze and a shake or something and it worked :)
