Hello! I bought a new guinea pig two days ago. She was coughing frequently, and when I saw her nose she did have boogers :)) but after sneezing a couple of times, I checked again and every thing cleared out of her nose. She eats [a lot], drinks, does her business, the area around her eyes are not crusty and when I let her out of her cage-she was very curious and ran around. She still does occasionally cough, but her breathing is normal. Is there a possibility that she has URI or is she just adjusting to her surroundings?

What bedding is she on? Maybe she's allergic to it?

She hasn't been constantly sneezing/coughing. The brand of bedding is 'Carefresh.' We're hoping that the bedding just initially irritated her nose, and it's not URI. Should I be worried about the mucus? Even though it's gone now?

I'd keep an eye on her and see if it comes back at all. Hopefully someone can give you better advice. :)

Thank you! If her health worsens I'll take her to the vet. Hopefully it is nothing!

Hi and welcome to you and your piggie :)
Just thought i'd let you know that piggies can hide illnesses ...... and they can deteriorate quickly.
To be on the safe side you'd be best to get her checked out, URI's need medication promptly, and then some extra care with probiotics.
Hope all will be ok, please keep us updated.
Enjoy looking around the forum if you have a look up the top of each section you'll find some really helpful threads,

Please weigh her regularly; a suspected ill piggy daily, a healthy one weekly. One of the first signs of illness is often loss of weight. http://www.guinealynx.info/weigh.html

If the cough persists please have her seen by a vet. Respiratory infections are very common in stressed shop piggies. http://www.guinealynx.info/uri.html

PS: Guinea pigs are herd animals and are not really wired to be on their own, so please consider getting her a same sex companion eventually. http://www.guinealynx.info/companionship.html
