bounty

:) Hi all,
Bounty has been to the vets today and under anasetic has had his head shaved and his abcess cleaned out. He is recovering really well and is happy but sleepy. The vet has taken x-rays of his head and says its an inner ear infection that has abcessed and burst out through his head. :'( The vet says he has never seen anything like it before. Bounty is now on antibiotics for a month (septrin). :o He looks quite funny with out his furry head. Bless him >:D Deb.

Big healing hugs to Bounty bless his little heart O0 If you have not already best to gget some bio lapis, Jumbo here has been on antibiotics for nearly a month and it played havoc with his apetite and digestion, oxbow critical care, extra vit B and bio lapis have been invaluable to keep as much weight on him as possible.
God luck to you both :smitten:

hello deb,
welcome to the forums from me and the girls in oz. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: so glad bounty is doing well after what he has been through. :smitten: :smitten: did the vet give you a probiotic to protect bounty's tummy from the antibiotic septrin? well have seen french poodles with that silly hair cut but a guinea pig? 2funny 2funny 2funny 2funny 2funny i wonder what bounty and his friends would say about his new look? 2funny 2funny 2funny. being on septrin or any antibiotic for a month seems a long time to me for a guinea pig! as antibiotics kill bad and good bacteria and cause piggy tummy upsets. :'( :'( :'( i would suggest asking about the antibiotic and the length of time on it and ask for a probiotic to protect bounty's tummy. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: glad bounty is doing well, sending you both hugs and cuddles :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

:) choloe, many thanks for your kind words. Will ask vet about probiotic. This his the 3rd lot of antibiotics since november hopefully this will clear up this nasty infection.
May i ask where in oz u r . My brother is in melbourne.
Deb

hello deb, i am in south australia. we do have a memebr here on the forum from victoria but she is sleeping at present. and there is another memeber from western australia. hoping bounty gets better soon. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: zoe one of our piggies had 6-8 antibiotic injections, surgery and she now has an upset tummy as no probiotics were given by the vets. :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: vets and guinea pigs here in south australia don't get on. :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: lucky if you can find a GP vet in 1 out of 1000. :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: hugs and cuddles to you both. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

:) Bounty is looking a lot happier now and just having his supper. Will endeavour to giv him his medicine now.
Deb.

:) I think he sees me as the big baddie at the moment having taken him to the vets today. ;D

how is little bounty today? you mentioned he thinks you're the badie cause you took him to the vet, when we had rosie she loved the OH but he took her in to have surgery to remove some fatty lumps(whether it was cause the OH is male or whether the vet and nurse were male) when we picked rosie up she would NOT have a bar of OH she was all over me! this was when she was 3 years old and stayed that way till she left us at 6 years old. 0:) 0:) 0:) :'( :'( :'( now i do all the cleaning, feeding, checking, grooming play time etc and the girls love the OH and only put up with me when OH is not around! :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: so i am guessing it is payback time. for me. really hoping bounty is feeling better sending him and you hugs and cuddles. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

:) Hi Choloe,
Bounty looks fine, he is eating and drinking but when ever i go near the cage he grumbles and runs off, when normally he would give me a kiss. Perhaps he has still got a headache so i will just leave him today not fuss him to much. let him come round by himself.
hugs to you and your girls.
Deb. will try to post a picture of him with his haircut.
