I was wondering what the different way you feed pellets/veggies are? I put my pigs veggies all over the cage but was recently wondering about spreading their nuggets through their hay as forage? I worry about their hay intake so thought that maybe it'd encourage them to eat more hay and feel more natural for them? I was thinking of changing to a water bowl rather than a bottle too as that's obviously a more natural position for them to drink from and I can track their water intake more too as there won't be any dripping. Just wondered how people feed their pigs

I scatter feed all veg and grass and pellets in and around the hay. I have a couple of older sows (around 5 years) and put a pile of food near each of them!

All hay is in hay trays to try and contain the mess.

I have two water bottles (between 7 guinea pigs). I was using a water bowl but they didnt like it, much to my surprise.

My piggies have water bottles and bowls as they all have differing preferences. I prepare bowls of veg for the evening feed but morning veg is usually handed to each piggy individually plus some scattered around so everyone has some while I do individual piggies. Their pellets are in a bowl while my house rabbits get theirs put through their hay or hidden for them to forage for!

I scatter feed pretty much everything, if I do a treat like grated carrot, beetroot and bran i'll put it in bowls otherwise it goes everywhere lol but pellets, veggies, dried herbs, wild plants etc gets scattered over their hay..which makes up their entire floor area.
I find they eat more, spend more time engaged with their food which keeps them active and thinking...and I don't spend ages ever day cleaning poop and urine soups out of bowls because my lot seem to think they're toilets for some reason!

My piggies litter trained themselves and use their haybox as a toilet but I'm upgrading my cage and they'll have a whole section with hay in so I'm thinking scatter feeding pellets will work so much better! I've got water bowls and a bottle to see what they prefer!
I've got a couple of cat beco bowls that I'm trying to repurpose, perfect for piggies because of the low sides! Maybe that can be the treat bowl

I put pellets in one bowl and treat stuff in another.
Hay goes on the floor and so do veggies.
Piggy noses soon ensure that pellets are all over the place.

My two have a bottle attached to the hutch door and a water bowl in the attached run, and I scatter feed everything so they are kept busy. If the weather is good I feed their veggies in the run so they have to come out of the hutch and have some exercise! :D
