We finally moved house last week. The process took ages - five months from offer accepted to completion. But we're in now, and as we have a much bigger garden with loads of grazing and room for a pig shed I decided to start looking for a couple of extra pigs.

Unfortunately, but for very good reasons, Windwhistle Warren (where my current pair of pigs were both adopted from) has become a rabbit only rescue, the Blue Cross are now my nearest rescue - and they're quite a way away. I have occasionally been looking at their website over the past few months and yesterday they added a whole cohort of young girls looking for homes to the site. I filled a form in last night. Today I got a phone call just before lunch and am going to collect two little girls on Sunday! :yahoo:

All that remains to be done between then and now is to actually build the 6ft hutch I brought in the sales (and is still in it's flat-packed state to make it easier to shift for the removal men) so that I've got photo evidence of a home for them on Sunday to show the Blue Cross staff that they have somewhere to live.

I knew I wanted more pigs - but didn't think it'd happen this quickly. I'm really quite excited now.

Wow, that's amazingly quick. How lovely for you. Look forward to seeing photos of the girls and their new hutch.

How exciting.I've taken on a new girl that I think is pregnant.Looking forward to pics of your new girls.

aww, that's fantastic. Great news. I've heard of the blue cross but I don't think they have any centers in scotland

That's brilliant, the piggys are going to love the new garden.

Yes, I couldn't leave her with those idiots.Am totally boycotting the shop, this is the final straw for me.

Will do.She is still settling in.If she is and she has a boy I can reshuffle by putting heathcliffe in with girls and the boy in with Milo.

So the hutch has been built. So glad we've now got quite a big shed as it has tipped it down here all day. Managed to put it together in the shed, apart from needing room to screw the back board together which I had to do out on the patio, so stayed nice and dry. There's a trap door to close off the bottom half and that will remain firmly shut until I get some sort of ramp tunnel or edging.

6ft long and 2ft deep; all put together by me whilst my OH sorted out the Ikea delivery.

They're here!

They're 6 weeks old and absolutely terrified (but also absolutely gorgeous). I've been very good, and after getting my OH to take a quick pic of them both on their arrival I put them straight into their hutch and have left them well alone.

Here they are :-

Congratulations, they are stunning. I look forward to updates on their very happy lives with you. 2 little piggies have really landed on their feet in a lovely new home.

Awww. They look so little and so cute. There's some funky Abyssinian hair going on there! I'm sure they will soon settle in to all that lovely space.

Well they like grass. I put a small handful in for them last night when I picked some for my 'big pigs' and it's all gone this morning. Plenty of poo in the night side of the newbies hutch, so they're obviously eating. :)
