We had gotten him as a sibling pair but unfortunately his sister passed way unexpectedly a few days ago. I feel absolutely horrendous about it but we didn’t even know anything was wrong until 10 minutes before she passed. We have since gotten another boy as a companion for him.
I am so very sorry for your loss.
Piggies can die very suddenly out of the blue without warning from a stroke heart attack or other causes, especially when the genetic background is compromised. Nothing you can do about it.
Sadly, the usual feelings of guilt/failure/intense soul-searching that we all expect in the wake of a loss and that are in fact generally an expression of how deeply we care and not one of having done anything wrong are usually a lot stronger in the wake of an unexpected or traumatic death.
We have got a Bereavement Community Support Corner for any questions, little and large, and for all the woes in whatever form that come with an impending or actual loss.
