Junior Guinea Pig
Hi everyone,
This is a strange/embarrassing one but I'd love to know what people think.
One of my pairs of guinea pigs hump each other a lot! They are both over 4 years old, I've had Tiger for over four years/all his life, and he used to live in a trio with two of my older boars until they died but he had a brotherly dynamic with them.
When he was left alone at the end of September after the death of my favourite guinea pig, he got really depressed so we adopted Harry from a lovely lady who had taken wonderful care of him.
They LOVE each other. They sleep in the same hut, spend every moment next to each other, and have had no issues bonding. They were living in a 5x4 C&C with 1x5 hayloft but I had to move them out my bedroom into a 3x5 C&C with a 1x3 hayloft because they were keeping me awake all night with their, erm, night time activities! They are perfectly happy in the slightly smaller space- they aren't as active as my younger pairs and trio.
My question is, is it common/normal for them to have a boyfriend dynamic... all my other pairs and trios of boars have had a brotherly type dynamic but not these two! I'd say Tiger is the slightly more dominant of the two but both hump each other. It doesn't bother either of them or me, and they are besotted with each other, I'm just interested to know if this is a common dynamic between boars!
