Well I've had the boys about 6 weeks and got them from the muesli they were on to pellets now (in fact I was adding in the muesli to the pellets but they ignore it now, I just didn't want to waste it) anyway they love all the veggies I've tried with them and it feels like we've hit our stride with a routine.

But...

I know guinea pigs are supposed to get an egg cup of pellets a day but the boys always had a massive bowlful, not since I've had them but I realise now I've been giving them too much. They now get a shot glassful (what I couldn't find an egg cup!) in the morning between them and another in the evening but they're acting like they are starving. It's possible they are being overly dramatic or I am being utterly soft! The two of them run to their bowl and sit with their feet on it and noise? My goodness you'd think they were being squeezed by an over enthusiastic child with the noise they make. Honestly when I go near the pen they squeak like mad.

Tell me I'm doing the right thing. I told them I don't want them to be fat little piggies. I mean they always have a completely unlimited supply of hay.

Sorry I know this is a bit long but I know if I get up to make a cup of tea they'll start up again...

Yes they do or rather they get vegetables twice a day so about a cupful each over the day

Your doing it right, cupful of veggies a day per pig over two meals and the unlimited hay plus the pellets is all good. Piggies are the masters of emotional blackmail....

This is a wake up call for me. I've been giving mine as much pellets as they want and Max is definitely cuddly. I'm a big softie. I think it's time I limited the pellets they get.
