Boys Vs Girls

:D All this talk about girls peeing up walls! I have owned mostly girls for more than 15 years and never had anything like that. One might get sprayed in the face if she tries to mount another girl, or sticks her nose up someone's bottom, but that's the worst that happens with my herd.

My Sybel sprays at anything that annoys her.

That's same as Nattie, she'll turn and pee on the other girls if they go near her sometimes lol. she makes a moaning noise when the others go near her anyway!

I think it's difficult to say because my view on females might just be because of the personalities of my sows... The boars are energetic and will play with you but if I just want to sit down with one of them I usually go for the girls because they're quite happy to just sit their and be clapped, unlike Elvis who will wiggle his bum and chatter his teeth until you put him back down with the rabbits (where he belongs in his mind!).

Due to the circumstances I've come across my piggies, I've just kept boars, but I don't believe it would bother me either way having Sows or Boars, I love all my boys, they've all have such great personalities and are great fun, as I can imagine the girls are also.

Got to say I love them all. Boys or girls I can never get enough of them  so that's why I went for 4 boys and 4 girls.

They all have their own personalities and special qualities just like there piggy slaves

I've only had sows when it comes to guinea pigs... no particular reason, but I've only got room for a pair, my initial pair were two girls, and we have since been introducing a new girl to an older girl whenever we've lost one of a pair to illness or age. My experience with rats/mice and other rodents was that boys smelled stronger than girls, but I'm not sure if the same is true for guinea pigs. My experience with hedgehogs was that boys play with themselves- a LOT! That might have been awkward with small children when they had their friends over! Fortunately, the hedgehog I had when my kids were young was female!

:wub:I've always had girls, so i'm biased towards them, same as @Freela mostly had pairs, so its been easy to bond with girls after the loss of a loved one, my vets aren't an exotics vet- we dont have any locally, so neutering a boy as a partner wouldn't really be safe or practical.

:yikes:dont think i could cope with dangleberries, checking boy bits & sperm rods! none of my girls have ever sprayed their cagemates as far as i know & i wouldn't say they are generally smelly :)
(& i believe girls pee in a backwards direction & boys pee in a forwards direction generally... all to do with the waterworks opening/ positioning shall we say ##cough##)

:gp:all my girls have been snuggly pigs eventually... although mostly been hard work & patience to get there, & i'm glad to say i've never had any really hormonal girls (if only i could say that about some of the humans i have met!) even Ellie who had ovarian cysts wasn't really arsey generally :)

but boys are gorgeous too :luv: just girls have suited my lifestyle..

xx

It's hard not to be biased. Before I started keeping boars I probably would have been biased towards my girlies :)
