i've found recently that i really enjoy DIY. i planned my 'guinea pig village' buildings, and have started making one. i'm enjoying making it, and realised that to make my own, custom painted, and a size i want, it was still only about the same price as things like p@h huts etc.

i had the idea that maybe i could make them for other people, so wanted to know if anyone here was interested in the idea. if anything, so farm it seems safer than p@h ones.

it's built from plywood, with a non-toxic wood glue to avoid nails. so far, i've only started making a flat roofed one, but i'm intending to have a play with apex roofs, too. i also have non toxic paints so that i can colour it the way that i want. if other people wanted them, they could choose colours too.

i've seen people make lots of cozies and such on here, but this was something i haven't seen before, so i was wondering what people's opinions were. from the materials cost so far, and how many i can make from it, i imagine that an estimated price would be no more than £20

but yeah, i just wanted to see if this kind of thing would interest anybody?
 
i'm glad someone replied. i thought it must've been an awful idea :p

my boyfriend and i will be finishing the first one tomorrow, as we didn't have a huge amount of time before. after that, i'll take some photos of how it works out. if it carries on as well as it's started, i might develop the idea further
 
I think it'd be a lovely idea, esp little village designs shops, cottages etc will you be posting photos? :)
 
yes, i'll be posting as soon as i've finished the first one, so i'm hoping all goes well with that :)
 
mine was £15, but p@h is the only place near me that does any. i don't think they'd sum up at £20, but it'd depend on postage, roof type, etc, which i don't know until i make some and check.

really, i just originally liked the idea of my piggies having proper little buildings, and figured that if i like the idea, other people might too. also, i've never seen custom coloured piggle houses before :))
 
I would be interested in custom huts, like you could paint them to match peoples real houses etc

i was intending on that. my guinea pigs will end up with little red brick buildings :p and a grey brick 'bridge' tunnel. my house things are going to be themed aswell, as i've actually got a 'village', i was putting in a hospital and salon, and little things like that...
 
well, here's the finished product, which we're pretty happy with for a first go:

i'm happy with it. we need to parctise curves a bit, but that shouldn't be too hard. we've also worked out that they'd probably be closer to £15, which sounds better to me aswell. we've got a silly amount of paint colours, too, which helps. these colours just match my guinea pigs hutch.
 
Aww wowie that looks fab! Esp with the little window and greenery! :)
