Bran mush supper...

The girlies had some bran mush this evening, have been giving them some once or twice a week mainly to encourage Rosie to maintain her weight.
Tonight I used a small handful of bran, a scattering of porridge oats and a handful of their food pellets mashed up with boiled water. I added a small amount of mashed banana, it went down very well!

A little one of Tia for good measure- brought her in so she didn't miss out on the cabbage I put in for them. Turns out she didn't like cabbage, and instead decided to climb all over me and hide behind my back making it very awkward to retrieve. Cheeky girl!

do they not end up with mash all over their chests? There isnt anything my girl wont dribble down herself and I find it really difficult to keep her clean. The fur sticks out in spikes and I worry the skin will get sore :/ But she is absolutely deathly sick of the syringe.. which she's been on the other side of for nearly 2 months now so I;m dying to feed her in a bowl.. but I dread the mess she'll make!

Two of mine are notorious for getting in on their chins, but I find it tends to dry and come off without having to do anything.
Try offering it her on a spoon, I sometimes do it for just Rosie so I know she is eating it. I either mix with a little fruit baby food or banana, grated apple, grated carrot whatever we have in. She just will lick it off the spoon, if I offer it to my other girls they eat it like its going out of fashion rolleyes

Ruby is feeling much better, definitely not squeaking like she was, she is still on cystease but hopefully that will be our last vets trip for a while. x

She had an op on her tongue about a month ago and although she can move the food back into her mouth she can't lick.. if I offer her a tiny bit of baby food on my finger she bites at you, then realises she can't get it without hurting you ") so she ends up sniffing it. When she grooms she just wipes the mush into her shoulders and around her face.. we have to wash her every 3 days or so because she is stained brown and green!

She will take food from the syringe if it is incredibly delicious. baby food and orange juice are 100% syringeable. I've tried porridge but she isnt so fussed.

Maybe you could just try it on a plate, and see if she can manage it like that or whether she just gets very messy and also supplement her with syringe feeds so you know she is getting enough. There is really much else I can think of at the moment, but it may just give her a little break from being syringe fed x
