Junior Guinea Pig
Hi everyone, I have some updates on my boys. I have had Branston just over a week now. He has been in quarantine at the breeders (which I witnessed when I picked him up, plus the other babies were girls) . In his solo cage he hasn’t made any piggie noises and has hidden the majority of the time.
Yesterday I began bonding Pickle and Branston. Pickle did his usual rumbling but eventually fell asleep lol. Branston kept attempting to hump but he couldn’t get on top as Pickle kept shrugging him off. After 3 hours in the bonding pen I decided to move them into their new cage (a 160 plaza).
Almost instantly Branston made cute little ‘exploring’ pig noises and Pickle went to find the hay. I love their new cage and will be getting one for my other boys.
As Branston is a skinny pig I am super nervous about him being cold so I make sure the temperature is always around 24*c and he has a snuggle safe in 24/7. I haven’t used coconut oil on him yet as his skin seems okay but will keep checking it. I don’t want to use it if his skin is okay as I read it would do more harm than good.
The cage looks super bare at the moment as I have no tunnels or anything that they can get caught in. Thankfully, Branston is the only one that can fit in the small cuddle cup so I place his snugglesafe underneath and he sleeps in that.
They are in my room so I will be honest I was constantly checking on them last night but they seemed fine. Both were eating out of the same hay tray at one point!
Twiglet is going on for neutering next week so he can bond with the girls and I am Super nervous but I am sure he will be fine.
Sorry for the very long post!
