I have given my guinea pigs some bread and they liked it but it was only a small amount because i dont no if they are aloud it or not ?

My bunny loves bread so i think its ok for the guinea pigs? Is it ?

A little bit every now and then is not too bad, but it should not be part of a regular diet.

Among other things, there is a lot of salt in bread (same goes for corn flakes).

I wouldnt give them anything other than veg,fruit,hay,pellets and forages there is absolutely no need to,i can imagine bread would have a similar effect as it does on dogs,it expands and blocks the intestines,not good at all and i wouldnt risk it

I agree with points made by both Bonnie and Wiebke. Bread - and similar human processed foods such as cereals - isn't going to kill them but it's completely unnecessary.

Can guinea pigs have any other things such as cerials and milk? I have never given anything like that to them but I was just wondering if they could.:{

As with bread, as a very rare treat it's unlikely to kill them but anything other than hay/dry food/fresh fruit and veg is *so* unnecessary it's simply not worth even going down that route. Stick with their actual needs, there's no point trying to add anything else.

The only exception in terms of milk would be pups who have to be hand-reared. Goats milk is said to be the best substitute for a mother guineas milk, but it has to be fed very carefully to them - on a spoon, not by syringe.

No milk. They're herbivores not omnivores; their gut is designed to process grasses which are high in fibre; milk contains zero fibre. Cow's milk, in particular, would be particularly bad for them as the protein casein is designed to grow a 100lb calf into 2000lb cow, not a 3lb guinea-pig.

Breakfast cereals are also not good for guinea-pigs; they're loaded with salt and sugar.
