Pickle has been breathing really fast all afternoon, no temperature and the vet says there are only minute crackles on her lungs. I have only had her a couple of weeks from RGPW and am so worried I may lose another pig, especially after this year losing Marty Pig and then Mr Digby soon afterwards

I have some herbivore food to syringe until she is eating well by herself. she has just taken 2ml easily enough and has had a tiny bit of hay. is there anything else I can do for her?

Is she scared? Just try to keep her calm and get her to eat. Sorry not much help.xx

no she doesn't seem to be, she and caramel have been getting on like a house on fire and she is used to being in the living room. In fact they are snuggled together at the moment

Did the vet prescribe any meds? I find that giving frusemide/frussol (diuretic) at the same time as the ABs can help - hopefully as you've caught it early it will be sorted quickly.

If she isn't eating for herself at all the aim is to get 120ml of syringe food in over 24 hrs. Pigs can take 20-30 ml per feed.

I assume you mean 0.3ml - that's a high dose but should knock the infection out quickly. If the breathing doesn't improve over the weekend please have a chat about the diuretic with your vet.
