Bringing the piggies in for a cuddle in winter

Hello. I got Percy in August last year and Pepper in November. All through last winter I brought them inside and had playtime and cuddles in my bathroom. Every night. Never missed one. Only for an hour each evening. Now I’ve learnt that I shouldn’t bring them in because of the temperature change. I’m so sad about that. I can’t bear the thought of them having no play time or cuddles throughout the winter. What can I do? All the hard work to get them to trust me will be forgotten by next spring. ☹️
 
Is there a room in your house that you could keep relatively cool or unheated? Surely you could bring them in for a short time every evening. I never knew about this problem. My boys Bill and Ted were indoor piggies but they regularly went out into their run and ark on sunny days in Autumn and spring with no ill effects.
It would be such a shame to loose that time together x
 
Hmmmm. Can’t make the bathroom cooler unfortunately. There is no window in that room. Only a sun pipe for light. I do have my porch. It’s not heated. So that’s an option. It would be a shame to lose our time together. They seemed to be fine with it last year. But now I know it’s unsafe I feel bad.
 
One think I did when it got to winter was buy a small gazebo and put there cage in the gazebo and you can sit in there and play with them and that way the cage is more protected
 
If your porch is unheated then that would be fine or like Claire says an unheated kitchen. Perhaps put the heating on after they are back outside?

Before mine had to come indoors full time, they went out by day and in at night all year round = but the difference for mine would be that I don't have central heating in the house and only one room gets heated so mostly there wouldn't have been much temperature difference!
 
I’m sure you will find a way round it, it’s so important to spend time with them x I’m sure this rule often contributes to some poor piggies and probably rabbits too ending up left at the bottom of the garden, forgotten sadly
 
I think a common sense approach is required, don’t bring your piggies in from outside into a room that’s very cosy and warm.Bring them to a cooler part of the house, if centrally heated, open a window and close the door and leave for 10-15 minutes so the air cools and put on a jumper, enjoy them x
 
My piggy is quite lucky, she lives in a heated shed, so when she comes in for cuddles she doesn't have that heat difference.
