question for the people that use brita filter jugs! does anyone here just use it for their piggies? its advised to change the filter every 4 weeks, but this is based of an average household using it and we only use it to fill up the girls water bottles - roughly 700ml a day. i’ve asked brita who have said each filter filters around 100 litters of water, so because we aren’t using it as much, does that mean id be okay to not change the filter every 4 weeks? we’ve worked out that the filter should last about 133 days (thats when we will have used the 100 litre up) but i just wanted to double check with anyone else who may just use the filter for their pigs and not change the filter as much?

I don’t use a jug myself (I have a filtered tap) but yes, it won’t need to be changed at four weeks

Yes we also only use our Brita jug for the animals, so I don't change the filter every 4 weeks, however I do change it every 6 weeks as after that time the jug should really be cleaned out properly, and a fresh filer is a good idea (even if it hasn't filtered the maximum amount of water) to prevent bacterial build up.

I do exactly the same with my water jug. We only use it for the piggies and I change the filter every 6 weeks and give it a through clean out.

I do change my filter every 4 wks as I have very hard water here in Suffolk. I always give it a thorough clean then.

We use our jug for piggies & kettle water. We live in a super hard water area. I usually change the filter approx every 5weeks & clean the jug.
Neither of us drinks tea or coffee so the kettle isn’t used a lot.
Sainsburys oval filters fit Brita jugs. So I try to buy those!
