Hi :)

My bf is doing great growing things in the garden and the lack of veg in the shop this afternoon (and that which they did having being incredibly expensive! Peppers = £0.90 each!?) meant that I didn't buy much.

The broccoli in the veggie patch is coming along nicely and we have LOADS of big leaves on the plants. I gave some to the piggies today to bulk up their dinner a bit and they are all loving it! Even the parsley seems to be a 2nd choice today.

So, with all these leaves and seven piggies to feed, I was wondering - Are the leaves as gassy as the flower? Can I feed these regularly to my piggies?

Thanks :)p

I think the leaves are like the rest of the broccoli in terms of gassiness... That said, mine get broccoli almost every single day in winter and cope just fine. Just keep them supervised so that they don't get tummy aches :)

My sister-in-law gave me a load of leaves when she dug hers up the other week. The guinea pigs loved them and I just gave them as one of their veg mixed in with dinner. :)

I'd say it is probably as gassy, I'd imagine it'd be like cabbage. But I don't know for sure. Mine love it too :)

My pigs have had some of the leaves from the broccoli in my garden. I have never noticed them farting excessively afterwards. Come to think of it I have never noticed them fart at all. (Bunny on the other hand ...) :))rolleyes

Broccoli leaves are basically cabbage leaves. Give them as your would cabbage in their diet, i.e. not too much at once and always as part of a mixed diet in order to avoid bloat and gassing.
