Hello, I noticed this on my nearly 6 year old Guinea pig boar. This looks different from usual. Any feedback on what’s going on here? I’m assuming his grease gland is torn or something?

I’m not sure what you are seeing is coming across in the photos. Their grease glands can get infected so it is important to see a vet for anything which doesn’t seem right.

In the meantime, switch from weekly to daily weight checks to ensure your piggy is still eating enough hay. Being unwell in anyway can cause them to reduce hay intake

I hope he is ok

I think maybe he had built up oil that I thought was normal and now it is gone? 😅I sent it to ChatGPT as much as it can be trusted and that is basically what was said. And if you also aren’t concerned that is what I’m going to assume happened. But the vets never said anything about it being dirty so I don’t know? He used to have like a black bumpy patch there I thought was his grease gland. But now only pieces of that are left and it’s flat and smooth otherwise. He’s been spreading his scent a lot bc he’s the one in charge now, so maybe it just cleared it away?
