broken leg

HI , my baby guinea pig melody has had a fall and broken her hind leg the vets advice is to either amputate or leave it to heal itself.
I dont know what to do should i take her to different vet or what should i do. he said her break was not in a place where strapping it would help. anyone got any advice for me? please.:0:(
 
My guinea pig had a similar problem, She broke her tibia and fibula(shin bones). My vet put 4 pins it. I would have thought a matchstick and a strap to atleast splint the broken leg would be useful so that it heals quicker and better.
