Broken Or Sprained Leg

Hi I'm new. I got two female Guinea pigs and they are about 16 weeks old. One of them hurt her back leg a few days ago so we took her to the vets and they said it's either broken or badley sprained. I've brought a new pen for them so they are both indoors until her leg heals. The problem is that she keeps catching it. What can I do.

Please try to keep her as confined as possible. Has your vet given you metacam (painkiller and anti-inflammatory) and has he done a scan?

Yesterday she's on metacam, they were going to do a x-ray but said there was no point. She's on the medication for 10 days.

Just try to remove as many obstacles as possible where she can catch her leg. What bedding are they on and can you see whether hay is easily accessible on the ground?

Yea I've made sure there is nothing in her way and yea the hay is on the floor for them and the bedding is like saw dust. I brought it from pets at home.

Would you consider using fleece with a puppy pad underlay? That may be easier for limited mobility.
You can get a cheap acrylic bed spread from a place like Primark, but you need to wash it at least twice with a softener-free detergent to get it wick onto the absorbent underlay. Softener seals the surface. Pick up any poos 1-2 twice daily, especially in the areas where she mostly sits. If necessary, place the hay on some newspaper and change daily.

Vetbed fabric would be even better, but hay has a tendency to catch on it.

Yea I'm happy to try anything. She still gets about but just on 3 legs bless her. She's eating, drinking and still herself
