Hello!
So I recently got a guinea pig with a broken toe. It's obviously been broken for a while. It's broken half way up the toe. It is separated and bends at the break very easily when I move it. It's not causing her any pain and she doesn't attempt to use it.
I'm wondering if it's going to be alright and I can just keep an eye on it? The person I got her off had rescued her and said her toe nail might just fall off but it should be fine.

If it was me, I'd be tempted to take her to the vet, even if it's just for some pain relief. She may not be showing that it's hurting, but I doubt it's completely pain free. Always best to get things checked, just for peace of mind :) Sending healing vibes!

She has an appointment tomorrow afternoon. Unfortunately I live in a rural area and the only vet around doesn't seem to know anything about guinea pigs. It's really frustrating. We will see how we go though :)

Good luck at the vets! Hopefully, even though they may not be piggy savvy, they should know enough to know that a broken toe can't be pleasant and give her some pain relief for it until it heals. I'm assuming it's much like a human toe, just rest and time for healing. The same with human toes though is that they really hurt when broken!

So went to the vets and they said all is fine. The toe is completely numb and it's not causing her any problems. The nail will probably fall off and die. It's been dead for over 3 months and doesn't seem to be inflamed or anything. The person who rescued her had bandaged it and gave her medication so I think that's really helped get it to the point it's currently at.
I just need to keep an eye on it and not let it get caught on anything as it has no movement and she might pull it off.
