Broken tooth after fall

Ok, my guinea pig Bonnie is a daredevil... She loves to jump out of my hands and I think this hobby has lost her a tooth. It was Saturday and my dad was backing out our suburu and she jumped from my arms onto my concrete driveway:... I was so worried but thankfully she was ok. Then I went to put her back into her elevated hutch and she jumped from my arms into the hutch but missed and smashed her head on the edge. I kept her inside that night and made sure there was no blood or injuries. Today is Tuesday and I checked her teeth and it looked like there was one missing from her top half. Can this get infected or should it get checked out? Please help me. I don't want my baby to die! P.S: She's eating normally and she's active, no signs of deteriation.

Bonnie, maybe you'd like to make your own thread for this, i would have her checked out to be on the safe side and keep a better hold of her when your handling her, a fall from even the smallest of heights can seriously injure and even kill a piggy, so please be more careful. x
 
If in doubt, have it checked, especially if the teeth are wobbly. Otherwise, the missing tooth will grow back quite quickly.

Weigh her more often than the normal weekly weigh in to make sure that she is eating as much as usual.
 
I don't wish to criticise as I have a jumper too but please try and hold her more tightly as some falls can be fatal. A friend of mine learned the hard way with her rabbit :(
 
I move my pigs in a basket so they can't fall/jump. When putting them into their cage put them in backwards, ie bottom first, so they don't see the cage coming and jump for it.

Popping a hand over their eyes can also help. I had to deploy this tactic with my bouncy rabbits as a kid.
 
I can empathise about wriggly piggles, I have one who if you don't cover her eyes when approaching the cage, will nibble you furiously and try and run in before you get there until you put her back in, yet LOVES being out!

This is good advice :)

Or pop them into a pet carrier to take them out until you're sat where you want them, and put them back in to carry them back.
(Also means they're less likely to be even more stressed when being taken to the vets in a carrier!)
 
My boy had a tumble off the hutch ramp a few months ago, he broke his bottom two teeth and couldn't eat properly.

Took him to the vets and he wasn't injured apart from that. He had a painkilling jab but nothing else.

I made sure his veggies were grated or finely chopped so he could eat ok, as he couldnt bite into the bigger pieces. Grated carrot and apple went down best.

Took about 3 weeks and his teeth were all back to normal and there have been no lasting effects from his fall thank goodness.

You'll be surprised how quickly the missing tooth grows back- give it a month and it will be back to normal size again and as long as he's eating ok in the meantime it'll be fine.

Its been a week since her fall, nothing broken- except maybe her teeth. On Tuesday there was one sort of broken but now they have both worn down. I gave her her fave food clover and she was eating that. Anything bad I should look out for?
