I sometimes if available give the piggies a paper bag (PRimark)... I had them out for floortime and pebbles got her head stuck in the handles and was dragging it round rather upset I'm sure you can imagine she certainly got a shock and so did I. Maybe it would be worth while removing the handles before giving them to the piggies I know this is what I shall be doing from now on!

Mine are terrified of paper bags, because Bandit popcorned in one and it went BANG when he hit the top (making it taut, like a drum). So any paper bag needs to be large enough that the bag is still slack if they popcorn in it. Or just torn.

That made me laugh Alex, poor Bandit! And poor Pebbles too Joanne, hope the experience hasn't put her off the fun that can be had with bags!

Mine love paper bags. For a while Delilah virtually lived in hers, I ended up removing the bags from the cage as she was getting too soggy from spending all her time in them!

Pampered Piggies sell guinea-safe paper bags, if anyone's interested. :)

Haha. Joey done the same thing a few months ago. So now i cut them off. :))

My mother thought it was very funny seeing Joey running about with the bag on his head and nearly wet herself laughing! Shame on you mum. (I wasnt there at the time.)

Pebbles was quite distraught too, I was more scared she may hurt herself! Yip I shall be doing the same :).

That's a good point to make as you soon forget when you have a paper bag about the dangers because your that excited about giving it to the piggies.

Mine got some in their Xmas box that they got from PP.

I have some of Pampered piggies ones too, but just have the Primark ones here, I never thought about removing the handles before I didn't realise they could get stuck, but hey we learn something new everyday!

I need to watch that with my cats too as they love to play in carrier bags - I have to make sure that everytime I finish with a bag it is carefully put away so that they can't get into it.

i always remove the handles off those bags its quite easy and doesnt ruin the bag. ive seen cats before tangled up in carrier bag handles it can be really scary for them

My cat climbed into a plastic bag and got the handles caught around his neck, I was at school and my Mum was trying to get it off his neck but he got scared and ran out the cat flap. He ran around the garden and tried to go underneath the gate and got it caught on the lock. My mum caught up with him and got it off but poor Pebbles (my cat) was terrified of everything for weeks and didn't eat for 2 days because his neck was sore. You'd think he'd learnt his lesson but nooo, he still gets into everything, especially boxes and bags though we try to take him away from him now. I always take the handles of paper bags anyway, I thought it was too big for them to get their head caught in but obviously not, when I cut them off before I was more worried about them tripping on them in the run or something but thank you for warning us to cut off the handles.

thanks for this i have never cut off the handles as didn't think it was a problem, I have not given them one for a while as last time Amy sat in the bag for the majority of two days and she got very wee stained and needed a bath two days after she had just had one mallethead they might get one this week though because it is christmas :)) I will be sure to cut off the handles in future
