Junior Guinea Pig
So as you may know, Bruin and Little Bear were found by someone in a fried chicken box in October, so I took them in. (For context, it was 90s F which is too hot for pigs, in a tightly closed box but the past owners had punched air holes in the top of the box as if that was going to help.) A few weeks later Bruin went to the vet and was diagnosed with heart failure, and then was pts a few days ago. I didn't know Bruin long yet it still hurts all of us, despite me knowing it was the right thing to say goodbye and I feel no regret over that. He was starting to become outgoing and loved to pester his brother. He was learning what the sound of a bag opening meant, and would start wheeking when he heard it. He was becoming brave enough to come to the side of the cage to beg for food and was getting used to me. Like my other rescued guys, he wasn't fond of people touching him or being picked up, and wasn't handled well by past owners. At least for the last month of his life, he got to be loved and respected again, but that doesn't make me feel any better about his loss. He was cremated and we have a paw print made. Even if he wasn't here long I still wanted to give him the respect of returning his ashes to me.
