Sadly, after being on the mend and back to his normal self again, Bucky went downhill fast today and had to be put to sleep.

Although very sad we know we and the vet did everything we possibly could for him. Even the vet cried today. Bucky will be greatly missed but at least he is no longer suffering. Our main concern is for his companion now. We hope he will do ok without him.

Rest in peace my lovely black piggy xx

So sorry for the loss of Bucky! He is popcorning free and playing zoomies with his new friends at the Rainbow Bridge.
 
Thank you all for your kind words. I hope he is having fun and eating lots of hay over the rainbow bridge. We are devastated but know it was for the best.

He seems ok so far. He has just been for a weekend away with 'nanny' who has been spoiling him with lots of cuddles as we were away. Reports have been good but we know his character better so will be glad to have him back to see for ourselves.

We are thinking about getting another friend for him as he is only 3 but not sure when the best time is to do this or if at all. At the moment he is in the living room with us for company but come the warmer weather he will be going back to the outdoor hutch so worried he will feel more lonely there. Pairing boars I know can be tricky so we will look into 'dating' him.

oh wow a friend for your piggie on this forum are lots of threads and sections all about bonding where to get a mate etc.
Take your time and have a good look.
some piggies bond in seconds and some never but I personally take a unwanted piggie from a rescue :roll:
