Oh dear!

Poor Buffy! what a worry for you.

I'm sending you both vibes.

Perhaps you can mash up some poo from the other piggies and mix it with a bit of water. That will give her all the "good bacteria" to start up the guts again.

Really? I have been syringing bio-lapis but she hates being syringed fed

Some guinea pigs will eat their companion's poo when their guts are down - I thought at least it wouldn't hurt to try!

But you'd better wait to see what the vet is saying about her diarrhea.

Went to the vets last night but not much help, she said there wasn't anything more they could do, she gave her a good check over and everything seemed fine. The vet did say about trying baby food but I had a look and the veggie ones all seemed to contain milk and potatoes!
Does anyone have any suggestions to get her eating? As she is refusing point blank cc now. I have mashed up some pellets and she has eaten a tiny amount and a small amount of hay and grass but nowhere near enough to keep her going. :...

She weighed 810grms before the op, 765grms after the op and now weighs 680grms. Poor little mite is tiny but she is very perky and nosey.

pureed apples i know its not veges but its more likely to be more appealing also nothing in it except apple,i have pureed Boris favourite herbs for him when he first got injured, maybe thats an idea?

Great thanks, I'll give it a try, anything is worth a try at the moment!

Any high fibre ideas to help her tummy?

Have you tried the new Oxbow fine ground Critical Care? Holly went wild for it and would eat it voluntarily (plus Sukie kept trying to steal it! :))). Seems to taste a lot nicer than the other sort, and it's easier to get into a small syringe.

You can buy it from www.sphsupplies.co.uk

The other thing that Holly was happy to fill up on after her op was grass picked from the garden. Should be OK with the diarrhoea.

I'm using Supreme Recovery, thanks for the link, Ill order some now. Yep she is eating grass from the garden but only 3/4 blades at a time!

Hey sweetie another thing i did at diff times was make up a fruit slushy.......it consisted of some apple, watermelon, canteloupe what ever i could find, i'd use this as a 'water' type supplement.
Then i'd briefly microwave or boil up some veg and puree with a bit of the slushy and then syringe that too, just so some veggies went in :)
No matter what keep trying with the science recovery or CC whichever you can get in.........they've got all the best ingredients etc.. in them.......i know how hard it is, sometimes it takes a piggie weeks and weeks to get used to a diff taste and the syringe :{
I wish you all the best xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

Thanks Glynis, I've ordered some crictal care on next day delivery so should get that tomorrow. Ill make up some slushies and purees tonight and hope she likes them.

Keeping my fingers crossed for your poorly girl! Keep trying!

Make sure she gets enough fluid!

In Switzerland we mash apples and let the mash oxidise (go brown) when we have diarrhea. Could be something to try?

Thanks, I'll try that. Yep she drinks from her water bottle and I syringe bio-lapis, she wont touch her water bottle with that in though!

Yes, I know - once they have a dislike to something, they won't touch it...

Sending my vibes for poor Buffy!

Sending positive vibes for you and Buffy! Possibly try some brocolli in with CC gives them something else with the CC. It grinds up quite easy and also gets them chewing. I have read that its high vitamin c. It will clog the syringe up but you could try it on a tea spoon. My guinea ate when he would eat nothing else. Just a suggestion. Fingers crossed for Buffy. x
