Building work and guineas

Have found out next door are having their kitchen done in June/July will take about 6 weeks and is a big job as having old one ripped out and extension done too.

I'm wondering how much this will impact on Monty and Leo with all the noise/drilling/dust.

Their hutches are right by the fence so they will be right by the noise etc. I can move the hutches to other side of garden, but Its not a big garden.

I'm sure Leo bunny will take it in his stride but wonder about Monty and his poor little ears - would he be better inside for the 6 weeks, hes so use to outside Id rather he stayed out but imagine a job like this makes one pile of dust and a lot of noise (cant say me and parents like the idea of the noise but will have to put up with it)

Has anyone had major building work done to know how the average guinea reacts to the noise/dust?

I am hoping to get a pair of rescue guineas soon - am starting to look but maybe Id better not get any until after the works done next door?
 
I think they should be fine. Most pigs seem quite "noise resistant".
Vacuum cleaners, lawn mowers, radio and tv don't seem to bother them, especially if they associate the disturbance with being fed!
I should imagine that the disturbance will not be as bad as you imagine.
 
I agree about noise and that kind of disturbance not particularly worrying them, but with major building works going on, I would probably be worried about excess dust and pollution in the air as it won't just be a 5 minute thing, it will probably go on for some time.
 
If it were to be that dusty and polluted I would feel sorry for the builders and the house occupants!
 
The noise shouldn't bother them too much - my 2 never flinch when I have the hoover on (I know, its not exactly the same but it is a loud noise thing).

I would move them to the other side of the garden and they should be fine there but have them facing the opposite way to the house with the work just to reduce the risk of dust.
 
Glad everyone thinks they will be ok:)

I can move them to the other side of the garden, hopefully they will be ok, they have not been use to any building work before.

Will see how it goes - they will hopefully ignore it, Il be at work in the day so will miss most of it - poor parents will get all the noise and dust:{
 
i`m sure they will be fine, mine seem to adjust to new things.:)p

Sounds about right, pigs first, people somewhere else!
 
Pigs are not the cleverest animals on the planet but they let their intentions be known. I now believe it is not that they don't "communicate" with us but that we don't "listen" to them.
