I am so upset :0! My herd had been living together beautifully for months but over the last week or so I have noticed one of them starting to lose weight. I have kept a close eye on her but when I went in today she had obviously been in a scuffle.

Now I have brought her in and cleaned her up and have decided to keep her indoors (hopefully with Sasha).

I just feel awful as if I have really let her down, I should have brought her in sooner:(. If she doesn't get on with Sasha I don't know what I will do.

Do keep a close eye on her - the group can decide to oust a member if they detect illness - it's to prevent alerting predators to the colony. It maybe that there's simply been a falling out but it's worth being aware.

Oh dear, poor girlie. Don't feel bad, you've done the right thing. Fingers crossed she gets on well with Sasha. x

We are going to keep her on her own for a couple of days and check that she is eating ok and that her weight increases, if it drops any more we will get her to the vet. At the moment apart from the obvious signs of a scuffle she is quite happy in herself and moving about and tucking into some veg.

I think it has been a falling out as I have some very dominant sows in the group and she is very submissive.

Charlotte, Don't blame yourself! Firstly you noticed a decline in weight and kept an eye on the situation as anybody else would. Sadly we can't talk piggy!
I do hope this is fate working in a rather strange way and sasha and the other girl will be forever friends :) fingers crossed xx

Aww poor girlie, but its not your fault! Some piggies just like being boss, hope she gets on well with the other girl and starts putting on weight soon! Hugs to your little girl!

Hey Charlotte you've done the right thing. What else could you have done?

If she's tucking into her veg that's an excellent sign and like Joanne said this could well be the friend for Sasha. Chin up.

x

Things happen and you acted as soon as you noticed. We can't do more as the piggies can't tell us what's going on.

I hope that your girl will gain weight again and be happy with a new friend!

Sorry to hear that your other piggies have been bullying this piggy. Don't be so hard on yourself: you did something as soon as you realised. It is hard when people or piggies that we love do mean things to each other. My bigger pig was mean to my little one when he first arrived and I found it quite difficult too although it was not to this extent.

I do hope she gets on well with Sasha.

I am so relieved that she is eating and drinking really well and seems happy to be indoors. Maybe she has been losing weight because the others have chased her from food or she has been stressed. I have always put food in many little piles around the run to prevent fighting but who knows? Just as long as she gets better.

I checked all the piggies over throughly and there are no other signs of injury or weight loss in the others which is such a relief!

That is great news! Well done! Sounds as though you're going to have a fat, happy little girl.

I hope she and Sasha become best of friends. Finger's crossed she starts to put weight back on with all those veggies :)

Avril is currently eating as if it is going out of fashion! Not giving too many fresh veggies straight away as I don't want her to get a sore tummy. All poos are normal so fingers crossed.
