Junior Guinea Pig
Hi, whilst cleaning my pigs out tonight I was clipping nails when I noticed this on my pigs foot.. is it mild Bumble foot? I haven't had any experience with this before so not sure what I'm supposed to do to make her better? ThanksView attachment 42041 View attachment 42042
It looks like a harmless foot spur to me. They are very common. About 1/4 -1/3 of all guinea pigs develop them on their front paws. They only need addressing if the spurs catch on things or are becoming rather large and interfere with movement.

If you cut them, never cut too close to live skin, as that causes bleeding.
Thanksthey're aren't causing her pain are they?
Not, it is just a growth of dead, hard skin, a bit like a callus on humans.![]()
Hello, sorry to raid your post. I'm not very knowledgable on foot problems so I can't give an opinion on your pigs foot.
Just while everyone was on the subject, my Hugo has foot spurs and I was wondering if anyone knows what causes them? I read a while ago that it was unsanitary conditions but my boys are spot cleaned numerous times throughout the day (especially their litter/hay tray) and their fleece is completely changed every 4 days. One of my boys has them, the other has perfect feet with no dry skin whatsoever so just wondering if anyone has any info? I'll try and get a picture in a min as it doesn't look the same as the photo above
