My handsome boar Bumble has just hooted / made a wierd sound when popping out a poop - noticed a tiny bit of light pink wee,so its probably either a uti or cystitis - what meds should I be asking for at the vets tomorrow? - i know vets usually have a cascade system for drugs and some antobiotics are better than others - my vet has to order in septrin it takes a day, and they dont keep critical care or similar in stock (knew I should have bought some ) - my boar is a non drinker - only drinks his wife pigs wee ! - so no chance of getting a urine sample - would he need a gut stimulant with baytril as I know it is supposed to be harsh - or do you think it would be better to give metacam and start on the septrin the next day (I realise vet might want to do something else ) - any thoughts please on what I should ask for / what to expect. He is eating and popcorning as normal .

Oh no - so sorry to hear this. Bloomin UTI's are a real nightmare for our beloved furry friends.
Septrin is usually the antibiotic for the job if it's a UTI or Cystitis - less harsh than Baytril and I've not had the need to use a probiotic with Septrin.
Always good to have some in though for any soft poos they may get on occasions.
Unsweetened cranberry is thought to be useful, I have a bladder piggy who has this daily in water and a quarter of Cystease capsule (ask your vet about this, it lines the bladder wall so any bugs have difficulty hanging around)
Metacam is also good for pain relief as you say - it's also an anti inflammatory,
Would Bumble take water via a syringe to help flush his bladder ?

I would wait a day for the septrin (a course needs to be a minimum of three weeks to properly work); it is a much better antibiotic for UTIs than baytril. Until then, you can give metacam for the pain and lots of water or water/sugarfree cranberry juice mix. About 10-15ml given within one session (which can last up to half an hour) helps flushing the bladder to clear out the bacterial infection.

If the UTI doesn't clear up or the symptoms aren't disappearing, please have an x-ray done to exclude the possibility of a bladder stone.
