So Darwin has bumblefoot I'm pretty adamant that it is although vets haven't confirmed this. I have been to two different vets the last one had more knowledge on guinea pigs. And they both placed Darwin on two different types of antibiotics, both of which done nothing.. His foot although the scab is better the swelling of his foot has not gone down and his toe? Is still red. He went for his check up and vet said that because it hasn't changed from day one even with the antibiotics and antiomflamatory medication that he now wants to just leave it. as he said it isn't causing him discomfort because he is still himself eating fine and isn't limping or anything. He said that if in a few weeks time it starts getting worse again because he's not on medication now that he will then have to go under anaesthetic so he can dig out the scab and see if there's anything in there stopping it from healing?

can anyone give me some advice, I've seen two different vets now and there both saying the same thing. I just feel like I don't wanna leave it? what can I do? he hasn't responded to both different antibiotics so please no one suggest other medication.. Thank you :(

I used this on my pig with Bumblefoot but please run it past your vet first:

It was recommended to me by someone who had used it succesfully on their rats and it did help when Mrs Fuzzy had it. It is a steroid solution though so always best to check with the vet.

It could also be linked to a heart issue but I think we have discussed that on your other threads, let me know if you need any more information.

Thank you, me too :( I was thinking of cleaning his foot then putting a bandage over it to stop it getting urine ect in it which could be stopping it from getting better? where would I get bandages from that are suitable for guinea pigs? will he chew it?
