i adopted my pig in March and he came with a lot of issues with his foot! Ive tried everything i can think of to treat it, full and varied diet of dry food, veg and hay (weighed to ensure not over feeding as that adds to issue), have him on vetbed only so more cushion. Tried bandages with manuka honey which worked amazingly but it always comes back. Tried f10 cream for gungal infections, corn plasters, baytrill, a hibby scrub, ear drops as they have worked in the past for other guinea pigs. Ive tried everything and he keeps picking at the scabs and it keeps coming back! Has anyone any advice? At the end of my tether with it.

Hes never away from the vets bless him and my sister is a vetrinary nurse, shes had him for two weeks ehilst ive been on holiday and shes tried everything too, we wash his vet bed daily, his feet sometimes look great then he picks at them and were back to square one! Hes such a happy little piggy and never stops eating otherwise! :(

Hi! I assume that you have seen a vet? Your piggy may need a stronger antibiotic and a longer course. My old lady Nerys certainly needed that.

I have found The Gorgeous Guineas cream effective in addition to the antibiotic course. Ointments
 
Yes he is never away from the vets and they suggest the vetbeds, creams etc! Never feel like i get anywhere x

They are very effective!
You just rip open the packet, and apply to affected aria, but for small animals it is best to dab some onto a cotton wool swab then apply to affected area on pigs foot
 
Thank you! Will look into it. Need the little tinker to stop chewing his scabs and pulling them off! X
 
My Bumble suffered badly with bumblefoot -my vet even had one of her sows get it - she has never had a case she hasn't cured - she says the trick is a long course of antibiotics and keeping the pressure off the foot -- Bumble had a 6 week course of septrin - the paw had a piece of allevynn pressure sore dressing placed on it, it was then wrapped in gauze and then had the material style Elastoplast wrapped around it the elastoplast has to go a bit up the leg so it doesnt fall off- it takes a competant vet to wrap it well, otherwise it just looks like a boxing glove and comes off quickly - we cured this way - he did get a milder dose of it 6 months later,but that was immediately after another of his many bladder operations and his immune system was weakened

Thanks so much for this! Ive just started him on septrin yesterday for the next 5 day. How long did yours have the dressing on for? X

You need a really long course - I would say minimum 14 - 21 days - depends what your vet says and how severe the bumblefoot is - my Bumble had it on all four feet really badly - he was on it for a few months - luckily septrin is quite cheap considering - my vet charges about a tenner for a two week course - and its one of the antibiotics that doesn't usually cause any tummy upsets (and most of them like it because it tastes of banana )

Aww thank you! Hes been on it five days and his feet look so much better, been back to the vets tonight and got 14 days worth! Just hoping he stops nibbling at his feet but i think in some ways it might be a habit hes got. His last owner didnt care for him well at all so goodness knows how long hes had it! Finally seeing some good results though! <3 x
