I ws wondering if anyone could tell me the early stages of bumblefoot. Gus seems to have quite pink pads on his front feet and they could possibly be a bit swollen and on one foot he seems to have what looks ike a small patch of dry skin up one side of his foot and leg, almost where our ankles would be. He seems fine in himself, running, eating and everything normally. I trimmed his nails tonight and there doesn't seem to be any tenderness. I'm just a bit concerned.

Sorry to hear this you need to speak to Michelle she's the expert she's also going thru this at the moment :'(
Best of luck keep us all posted piggie kisses to Gus :-* :-*

He's normally on vet bed but for he past 6 weeks or so he's been on a mixture of carefresh and shavings. He's back on the vet bed now so I'm hoping that it was the shavings that aggravated him and it'll settle down. Thought it would be best to know as much as possible just in case though.

Hopefully it is just one of those "odd things" that never amounts to much ::)
Hope he is okay.

Bumble foot is not very nice and I am battling it at the moment and it can become quite dangerous to the pig if the infection is not dealt with it can get into the bones causing osteomyelitis which can mean the loss of the foot /leg, it is not a thing that ever amounts to much believe me, it can kill the pig, so please dont underestimate it,
dobbys had it for 2 weeks now been on baytril and rimydil daily foot washes 2 times a day with antibacterial hand wash plus cream rubbed into the foot, sleeping on towels changed twice day, am now hand feeding him some food as his weight has dropped , the condition can be caused by dirty/ damp hutches of which mine is not the case or they can just pick it up through a cut,
if people really think this is a minor thing, please believe me it is not,
