Hi,

I noticed last week that my little pig has a couple of scab-like things on his front feet, his back feet are fine. He doesn't seem any different in his behaviour, he is still as lively as ever, and doesn't seem to be in any pain.
I was looking on this site last night, and I am now a bit worried, because the scabs look a lot like bumblefoot!

I have put (hopefully if it works) a couple of photos (when I could keep him still enough to take them!), can anyone give me any idea of whether it is bumblefoot or something else please?

Thanks

Guinea Pig

I was going to say spurs too, my boar has them, he will be 3 in Sept time and we were told it appears as piggies get older, as does nail curling. They just need filing or cutting off every so often but it doesn't bother him.

I have just noticed these on my 2 boys...first Gizmo when trimming his nails prior to going on holiday and when I got back Albi had them too! just front paws. I thought they'd caught themselves on the ladder! I've been keeping an eye on them and Gizmo's dont seem as bad as they were. I will try get some pics but its difficult

Hi,

I don't think they look much like spurs, but I don't know! Hopefully these links will work - I'm new to posting pictures!

I would say they are footspurs. Trim them back with sharp scissors or nail clippers but not too close to the skin. They are quite normal. Three of my five piggies have them and I have seen/ clipped them on lots of the rescue piggies too. :)
