Hi,

I noticed a pink growth inside my guinea pigs mouth. He is eating and drinking fine and his weight is stable. He doesn't seem to be in pain when I touch him close to that area. It doesn't look inflamed or irritated. It is attached with a small stem inside his lower lip. It's exactly like what Pinki mentioned in this thread:
Strange Fleshy Lump In Mouth..can't Find Any Information Anywhere

I am taking him to the vet saturday morning, but I wanted to reach Pinki and ask what happened to the lump that was on her/his guinea pig. Do you know how to message a certain person?

You have to have sent a certain number of posts before you can private message any one. Not sure how many tho but a staff member will be able to tell you @sport_billy @BossHogg . To tag someone you need to put @ in front of their name which will alert them to the post next time they are on the forum @Pinki

Private messages are not available until 10 posts this is for security to stop trolls and spambots when they join.

we would rather heath conversations take place on open forum

I will tag into this thread some of the H&I team but you will hopefully get advice from lots of our members also if they can think of anything

To be honest though that as you have already organised needs a vet visit. Best of luck please let us know how you get on

Hi, never come across something like this, but its good that it isnt causing any loss of appetite so far and that you have a vet trip booked- only a vet can say for sure!

Ok, the vet said it looks like a polyp but can't be sure if it's benign or malignant tumor unless we do a biopsy, although it looks more benign since it is only attached with a small stalk, and has a smooth surface, and not inflamed. She also said she hasn't seen this in a guinea pig before. (I actually consulted two different doctors who said that).

I will monitor its size for the time being, and take measurements. If it keeps growing, gets inflamed, affects his eating etc.. they will remove it, otherwise, I will let him be I think. Hope @Pinki sees this thread and lets me know what happened to the other guinea pig.

I ended up getting this removed, will update when I get the pathology results. I was going to not get it removed since I didn't want to put him under anesthesia, but we also found that he had mammory tumors so he had to have a surgery to remove those. The vet removed his mouth polyp as well during the surgery. He is in recovery now.

Fingers crossed they’re all benign.

Thank you! The vet said there is 50/50 chance for the mammary tumor to be malignant :( If that is the case, hope it's not an invasive one...

Best wishes and hope the test results come back normal.
