Burgess Excel Mint Nuggets Stink!

Hi,

The day pebbles passed we ran out of nuggets. Pumpkin was never too fond of the science selective grain free stuff so I took a trip to pets at home to buy some new nuggets.

Ive never had these ones before but they do not smell good at all. They smell like boiled potatoes or mashed potatoes. They smell funky. Obviously I am confused because they're mint or contain mint? It doesn’t smell minty one bit? I know the nugget choice wasn’t ideal but everything else was bad.

If anyone else has these please tell me this isn't what they’re supposed to smell like. And yes, pumpkin hates them too.
 
I’ve used them with my piggies and my rabbits currently have a few of them but I’m not sure I’d describe the smell as potatoes….
 
Have you checked the use by date? Take them back to where you bought them from and say they don't smell right and you think they may have gone off. I don't think any pellets should smell like potatoes.

Have you tried the pellets from Piggie Pellets They are a bit more expensive than Science Selective Grain Free but you don't need much per piggy. My three like them (Thea wasn't keen to begin with but eats them now) and the 3 of them only have 2 tablespoons per day. On the packaging it says 1 tablespoon per 1000g piggy. Misty is over 1000g, Bramble and Thea together are around 1500g so that's 2 tablespoons. I get 2 packs at a time which is £12.50 for 2kg.
 
We use a mix of science selective grain free & Burgess mint. I haven’t noticed a bad smell from the Burgess pellets, but we only use a tiny amount and the bags been open a while.
We also have a bag of piggie parcel pellets( as Betsy above recommends) our gang are not keen on them at the moment.

It’s the closest smelling thing i could compare it too except it smells worse? It’s tge type of smell that makes me gag 🫣

Yep! It expires 08.04.25 which is next year. See i'd buy more pellets I just don't want to waste these ones as I’ve already opened them ect. The bag split down the side too so it opened awkwardly. I don’t have the receipt either annoyingly they didn’t give me one.
 
Mine love them ! I fix them with pets at home pellets ! Because they are smaller and the mint ones are bigger !
