Hi

I have just been reading the story of dear lovely Bandit and noticed that he might be syringe fed with Burgess Excel paste.

This is something that my own vet also encourages however I have also heard that syringe feeding should always be with Critical Care.

Could anyone clarify the difference between them and which should be the preferred option?

Thanks

Jen

Both are equal in terms of sustaining a pig. Critical Care is mostly about convenience, it comes ready made unlike the Burgess Excel which you have to make up yourself. Although, in terms of availability the Burgess wins outright!

There are two other convenience syringe-feeding powders on the market - Science Recovery and NutriPowder (sold by Galen's Garden). The only one I have not used is Science Recovery.

Burgess Excel is a fraction of the price of ready-ground products.

Not the same, but they do the same job and both are as effective at sustaining a pig.
