I am considering trying a new brand of pellets and can get burgess excell pellets in mint or blackcurrant and oregano but I am wondering if they are ideal health wise and if they are well liked. I have them on oxbow cavy cuisine and I am almost out of oxbow natural science but like to give them a mixture of the two because they are fussy.

The Mint pellets are all that Comet will eat, pellet wise. He has a serious addiction problem where they're concerned.

The black currant ones seem like a really weird combination of flavours.

The mint pellets are apparently also bigger than the blackcurrant ones, in case yours might find bigger or smaller ones easier to manage. I don't have any blackcurrant ones to show you, but this is the mint ones next to some Harringtons (which are also tiny) :

I don't think they will have a problem with the size. How much do you feed them?

I've just changed over to the black currant one. They were on the science selective. There verdict how dare you put that in my bowl.
Oh no. That's so typical, you spend a fortune on something new for them only to find they turn their nose up at them and you have to buy something else.

At the minute I give them a handful at a time, and I only refill the bowl when it gets emptied, and never more than once a day. They get a few Harringtons in there as well, though they're stubborn and always leave those til last. They're getting to the stage now they really don't need as many.

Our two girls have the mint ones and seem to like them. We give them 20g between them twice a day (which i think might be a little too much?) and they usually finish them. The only other pellets I have tried is pets at home because we had some free ones but they didn't like those.

Thanks @Lorcan, I hadn't realised that the mint ones were a different size and shape! I haven't tried mine with fresh mint yet either, but they have some super minty horse treats which they love.

@Tiamolly123 the Rosewoods pellets go down really well here. Finding places which sell them is a bit of a pain though. I feed a mixture of the blackcurrant Burgess, plus 2+ grain free ones including the above.

My two girls have a mixture of science selective, burgess mint and rosewood. Love them all and I wouldn't say they have a particular favourite.

They have had blackcurrent burgess, but once the bag was finished I stopped giving them to them as they were their least favourite and I found them to be quite small and dusty.

When I first got my two I tried them with some fibre first as a treat (as my bunnies love the rabbit ones) but they weren't interested at all. Might be different now, but tbh they just love their veggies as treats :)) xx

I feed my two Burgess XL pellets with mint in them because the black current ones are really high in sugar
Hope this helps

I got them the mint ones to try. Fingers crossed they like them. I bet they would have loved the black currant ones but glad I didn't buy them if they are high in sugar.

Pets At Home ones don't have very good ingredients in them plus it turns their poo orange
Which is a little disturbing

Has anyone tried these piggy nuggets
Natures feast
Pets at home normal
Fibre first
Or rosewood nuggets

My two aren't bothered about the Rosewood ones at all, although they look to be excellent quality.

I used to feed a combination of the two Burgess nuggets, but I stopped because it meant I needed to store more. I only feed the Mint ones now, which have always been a huge hit. Toffee and Oreo weren't as bothered about the Blackcurrant nuggets, but Pemba has never had them.

I,m lucky, mine seem to eat any pellet!

That IS disturbing. I would probably freak out if I saw orange poo in the cage.

Late to this party, but the bugess mint is literally the only pellets my boys will touch and tbh, they have something of an addiction issue with them! I have to limit them to a handful once a day between them and they will literally lick the bowl clean!

My 3 like Rosewood nuggets. Their absolutely favourite type is the Burgess oregano and black currant, so much so that they now refuse to eat the Burgess mint ones. lol they get a mixture of Burgess (black currant), science selective and Rosewood nuggets. Occasionally they get fiba first I give it as a treat. Fudge loves it. Peanut eats anything. And Buddy isn't too keen.

My boys liked the pets at home ones, but now they have the burgess mint ones and love them! They wheek when they hear the bag opening! I only give them an egg cup full each otherwise they fill themselves up in them and eat nothing else!
